Off we go... Guy and I in the small airplane.

Above the clouds … Alberta looks very small

And suddenly I was flying a small plane. But only briefly. Because it was much more exciting to see Alberta from above.

Actually, only my two host brothers were supposed to get on a plane, fly high up in the sky to see Canada from above. When the question arose about avid parents, my hand was in the air right away and the camera at hand (even if I’m just a friend and not a parent 😉). Buckling up, headset on and off we went in the small blue and white aircraft. By the way, the pilot has already been “flying his whole life”, as he said, pondering briefly and then reporting: “Since I turned 16. For three years, then.“ If three years is a lifetime… However, my host Guy and I definitely felt safe. We were able to see the Rocky Mountains in the distance. We saw rich yellow canola fields, green pastures with gazing cows, we flew over the Red Deer River which meanders through the landscape. My host family’s farm was the destination of our tour. It looked very different from above – located in the middle of the forest and adjacent to a canola field.

By the way: As I was stuck between pilot, door and countless buttons, switches and lights, I was even allowed to fly by myself. Actually quite simple, if it’s just going straight…

Alberta looks very small frim above. In the distance there are the Rocky Mountains covered by clouds.
